Where It All Started
Flying Penguin was created from real business experience, not theory. Our founder, Garreth Sleigh, has spent years running multiple retail shops and e-commerce websites across the UK. From motorsport showrooms to online retail, he has faced the same challenges every small business owner recognises: the pressure of keeping customers happy, managing staff costs, and finding enough hours in the day to keep everything moving.
Like many business owners, Garreth has always thrived on looking for ways to innovate, improve efficiency, and cut wasted time. Every decision was driven by the same question: how can we deliver better service while running leaner and smarter? When artificial intelligence started to evolve into a serious tool for businesses, Garreth saw an opportunity to rethink how small businesses could operate.
The turning point came during the COVID pandemic. Shops were forced to close, sales slowed, and the reality of redundancy decisions hit hard.
